What To Eat With Savory Scones?
Savory scones are traditional British treats that are typically made with butter and sugar. However, depending on your taste preferences, you can vary the flavor and add additional ingredients. You can serve savory scones with various toppings and accompaniments to customize them however you’d like.
You can make sweet or savory scones. Sweet scones are commonly baked with fruit preserves, whereas savory ones are usually served with ham, cheese, bacon, or smoked salmon.
There are so many great combinations to try, including savory scones topped with fresh tomato slices, feta cheese, basil leaves, and olive oil; sweet scones spread with strawberry jam and sprinkled with icing sugar, and savory warm scones topped off with maple syrup and cinnamon.
Ploughman’s Pickle
Ploughman’s pickle is a British delicacy. It’s made from vegetables and fruits like apples, carrots, cucumber, celery, cauliflower, etc. These tasty little pickles taste great with cheeses, especially Stilton, Gouda, and Cheddar. Ploughman’s pickles last a long time because they don’t spoil easily.
They are best served chilled and you can serve them straight away or refrigerate them until needed. Be careful though; they lose flavor if left out too long.
Chunks Of Cheese
Cheese lovers will never say “too much.” They’ll always want more. And they’re willing to pay for it. According to Nielsen data, Americans are spending $1 billion per month on cheese.
Whether it’s cheddar, mozzarella, gouda, Swiss, or any other kind of cheese, there’s no denying that cheese is delicious. Most cheeses are high in protein, calcium, zinc, vitamin D, and B12. Plus, most cheese varieties have less fat and cholesterol than meat products. So if you’re trying to lose weight, eating cheese is a great alternative to bacon, sausage, and other fatty meats.
Sweet Chili Sauce
Savory scones are delicious snacks. What makes them special is that they are served with sweet chili sauce. Sweet chili sauce is an ideal condiment for savory scones because it adds a bit of heat along with its sweetness.
Sweet chili sauce is available at most grocery stores. It comes in several varieties, including red, green, yellow, orange, and a spicy version. Each variety tastes slightly different depending on the brand. Some brands include tomatoes and peppers in the mix, whereas others only feature peppers.
Tomato Chutney
Tomato chutney is one of those recipes that everyone loves. You can serve it with cheese scones, toast, or even use it as a dip. This simple tomato chutney recipe is quick and easy to make.
Ingredients
• 2 cups chopped tomatoes
• ½ cup onion finely diced
• ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
• 3 cloves garlic minced
• 4 green chilies slit lengthwise
Salad
Salad is an easy way to make sure you don’t eat the same thing every day. You can mix up the ingredients depending on what you’re craving. For example, if you love chicken, serve it over a bed of greens topped with cheese and bacon bits. If you like pasta, toss some veggies into a bowl with marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese. Or, if you prefer seafood, go with a shrimp cocktail over mixed greens.
Strawberry Jam
Cheese and strawberry jam is an unlikely pairing, but it works well. In fact, it’s one of my favorite combinations. I like to use soft, creamy Brie cheese because it melts nicely. You could also try Camembert or another milder cheese. If you want to make this recipe healthier, you could swap out some of the herbed butter for olive oil.
Cold Cuts Of Ham
Ham and cheese is a classic combo that’s easy to find anywhere you go. But there’s no reason why you can’t make your own version at home. Here are what ingredients you need to prepare it.
1. Mix 2 cups of self-rising flour with ¼ cup of milk. Add some salt and pepper.
2. Cut up a slice of ham into small pieces.
3. Dip each piece of ham into the batter.
4. Place the coated ham onto a greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes.
5. Remove the ham from the oven and let cool slightly.
6. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
7. Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes.
8. Serve warm.
9. Repeat steps 3-8 with the remaining ham slices.
10. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
Marmite
Marmite is a popular foodstuff among Brits. This savory spread is used to flavor bread, crackers, toast, and even pizza. In fact, it’s one of the most common condiments found in British kitchens.
Cheese scones are a classic afternoon tea snack. They’re small, sweet biscuits filled with cheese and served warm. You can find them at teashops across the UK.
Sun-dried Tomatoes
Sun-dried tomatoes are great to have around the house, especially since they can be stored for months without losing quality. They’re easy to store and don’t require any special equipment or preparations. Just put them in a glass jar with some olive oil and close it up tight. You can even use them as a topping for pizza or enjoy them with savory scones.
Tomato Soup
You don’t need to spend a lot of money to enjoy delicious homemade tomato soup. All you need are five ingredients and a food processor. This simple tomato soup recipe comes together quickly and tastes great!
This healthy tomato soup recipe uses only two types of vegetables: onions and tomatoes. Both of these foods provide health benefits. Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, which may lower cancer risk, and onions are high in vitamin C, which helps the immune system work properly.
Start by sauteeing the onions and garlic in the olive oil until tender. Then add the broth and tomatoes to the pan and simmer for 20 minutes. Finally, blend the mixture using a hand blender or immersion blender. Serve hot!
Slices Of Apple
Apple slices make great appetizers because they’re easy to serve and easy to eat. They’re also versatile; you can use them to accompany cheese, fruit, nuts, meats, vegetables, dips, sauces, and even desserts. You’ll find many recipes for slicing apples into wedges, but there are several ways to do it. Here are a few methods to choose from.
1. Cut the apple crosswise into 8 equal pieces.
2. Slice the apple lengthwise into 4 equal pieces.
3. Use a mandoline slicer to slice the apple into thin rounds.
4. Using a sharp knife, cut the apple crosswise into thin slices.
5. To make a wedge shape, cut each piece of apple in half horizontally.
6. If desired, peel the apple before cutting.
Caramelized Onions
Caramelized onions are deliciously eaten alongside cheese scones. They take less than 20 mins to make and there are plenty of different ways you can serve them.
Icings And Glazes
There are many different types of cakes and desserts out there. Some people like chocolate, some prefer vanilla, and others love lemon. Well, I think we can safely say that most people enjoy ice cream. Ice cream is usually something sweet, creamy, and cold. And while most people know how to make ice cream, there are actually quite a few things that go into making it.
Ice Cream Ingredients
The ingredients used in ice cream vary depending on the type of ice cream being made. There are three main categories of ice creams: soft serve, hard scoop, and frozen yogurt. Soft-serve ice cream is very similar to regular ice cream, except that it doesn’t contain eggs.
Instead, it contains stabilizers such as guar gum and xanthan gum. This help prevents the ice cream from becoming too icy. Hard scoop ice cream is often sold in cones or cups. Frozen yogurt is a mixture of milk and fruit juice. This is why it is called yogurt because it resembles Greek yogurt.
Cake Icing Ingredients
When it comes to cake icing, there are several options. You can use buttercream frosting, royal icing, ganache, or fondant. Buttercream frosting is probably the easiest option. It consists of sugar, herbed butter, egg whites, and flavoring.
Royal icing is basically just powdered sugar mixed with water. Ganache is a combination of chocolate and heavy cream. Fondant is a thick paste that is made up of confectioners’ sugar, cocoa powder, corn syrup, and food coloring.
Glaze Ingredients
A glaze is simply a thin layer of liquid added to a finished product. For example, you might add a glaze to cupcakes. A glaze can consist of anything from simple white vinegar to caramel sauce.
Plain Honey
Honey is one of those things you either love or hate. I fall into the former category, and I think most people do. But there are times when plain honey is exactly what you want. For example, when you’re making scones or toast, or even pancakes. You don’t want something fancy, like flavored honey. You want something simple and straightforward. And that’s where plain honey shines.
The thing about honey is that it varies quite a lot depending on where it came from. Some kinds of honey are very floral, while others are much stronger and earthier. There are some kinds of honey that are almost candy-like, while others are more savory.
So when you go shopping for honey, look for something that tastes good straight out of the jar. If it doesn’t taste good straight out of the bottle, chances are it won’t taste good on your scone.
Nutella
The popular hazelnut chocolate spread is delicious and versatile. It’s easy to spread onto bread or biscuits. And it’s great for breakfast or desserts.
Clotted Cream
Whipped cream is made from thickened milk, usually heavy whipping cream. Heavy whipping cream contains about 80% butterfat, while regular whipping cream contains around 40%. Butterfat gives whipped cream its characteristic texture and flavor.
There are many different brands available. Some contain stabilizers such as guar gum, carrageenan, pectin, xantham gum, gelatin, or agar; some use artificial sweeteners like sucralose, and some don’t list ingredients at all.
Marmalades
The word marmalade is derived from the French word “marmalade,” meaning “preserved fruit.” In 18th century England, marmalade was used as a spread for bread and cheese. Today, marmalade is often associated with sweet preserves like orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit, and strawberry.
In the United States, the term “marmalade” refers to a type of jam made from citrus fruits. Orange marmalade is one of the oldest varieties of marmalade, dating back to 1770. Lemon marmalade dates back to the early 19th century. Grapefruit marmalade was introduced in the mid-19th century. Strawberry marmalade came into use around 1900.
Today, there are many different types of marmalade, including those made from apples, pears, plums, peaches, apricots, cherries, cranberries, raspberries, black currants, blueberries, redcurrants, gooseberries, kiwi fruit, mangoes, nectarines, oranges, lemons, limes, tangerines, grapefruits, guavas, and strawberries. Some marmalades contain sugar, while others do not. There are also several kinds of marmalade that are cooked rather than preserved.
Jams
Making your own fresh fruit jams is simple and doesn’t require special equipment or ingredients. All you need is lemons, limes, oranges, peaches, apricots, berries, apples, pears, plums, and cherries. Just combine those fruits with 100% pure cane sugar and add 1/2 teaspoon of powdered pectin. Mix well and let sit for 30 minutes. You’ll notice that the mixture begins to thicken after that time. Then pour the mixture into jars and seal them tightly.
You can store your homemade jams in the refrigerator for several weeks. It’s pretty hard to mess up making jams that taste this amazing!
Powdered Sugar
The word “powdered” is derived from the Latin word pelvis meaning “dust.” In the 16th century, powdered sugar became popular in England due to the invention of the coffee grinder. Coffee grinders produced a fine powder that could easily be mixed into drinks like tea and chocolate.
In the United States, powdered sugar was used as a thickening agent in baking recipes. By the late 19th century, it had become common practice to sprinkle powdered sugar over cakes and cookies.
Today, there are several types of powdered sugar available. White granulated sugar is usually found in supermarkets and is often used for cooking. Brown sugar is similar to white granulated sugar except that it contains molasses.
Confectioners’ sugar is finely ground sugar that is commonly used to make frostings and icings. Icing sugar is a type of confectioners’ sugar that is slightly finer than regular confectioners’ sugar. Cornstarch is a flour substitute that is sometimes used to thicken sauces and gravies.
Whipped Cream
The most common type of whipped cream is sweetened condensed milk mixed with heavy whipping cream. This mixture is called “whipping cream.” Sweetened condensed milk contains about 40% water while whipping cream has around 50%. When you whip it, the fat separates out into small droplets. These tiny droplets form a foam known as “creaming.”
There are many different types of whipped cream available. You can buy whipped cream in cans, jars, tubs, cartons, boxes, bags, and even frozen packages.
Cinnamon Chip Scones
The best way to add cinnamon to your baked goods is to sprinkle it on top of the finished product. This method works well for classic scones, muffins, cookies, cakes, pies, bread, and even pancakes. You can use this technique to make cinnamon rolls, too.
Lemon Curd
This savory plain scone recipe uses lemon curd as its base, not butter. You’ll notice that most recipes call for butter, but I prefer using lemon curd instead. Lemon curd makes a great topping for fresh scones because it adds a tangy flavor without being overly sweet. Plus, it’s super healthy since it’s made with only five ingredients.
You can substitute milk for water if you prefer, but the resulting consistency won’t be quite as thick and creamy. Also, you may notice that the lemon curd doesn’t thicken very well after refrigerating overnight. That’s fine though. Just let it sit at room temperature until it’s the right thickness.
Ingredients
1 cup granulated sugar
2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
4 large eggs
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Directions:
Chocolate Chip With Chocolate Sauce
This homemade chocolate sauce is super versatile. Try pouring it on a slice of cheesecake, some vanilla ice cream, or even just a plain piece of toast. You can add any toppings you enjoy, like nuts, sprinkles, or chopped dark chocolate chips. My personal favorites are white chocolate chips. These chips melt beautifully, making the sauce extra sweet.
This recipe makes a quick and easy dessert that tastes like it took hours to make. You’ll love how simple it is to whip up this decadent treat.

2 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
¼ cup butter

Grilled Cheese
This is an easy way to make a grilled cheese sandwich without having too much work. You just need some ingredients like butter, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. And don’t forget about the cayenne pepper.
A simple spread made with butter and spices will give you a tasty grilled cheese sandwich. If you want to spice things up, try grilling cheese over a hot fire.
Scrambled Egg And Cheese
This recipe combines scrambled eggs with various kinds of cheese for a delicious breakfast treat. You can use whatever type of cheese you like, but try to find one that pairs well with scrambled eggs. If you want to make it even easier, look for pre-grated cheese.

Pistachio Urbech
The pistachio urbech recipe is one of those things you just know how to make because it tastes like childhood memories. You don’t even have to think about it – you just do it. And it’s delicious. It’s a great combination of savory scones.
Cured Meats And Cheese
Cured meats are delicious additions to many dishes. They add a savory twist and make everything taste better. You can use different types of cured meats to enhance your favorite recipes. Some people like adding cheese to their cured meat dishes. This gives it even more flavor and texture. Try making some of these tasty combinations yourself.
Guacamole
The best thing about guacamole is how versatile it is. You can use it as a dip, spread, salad dressing, sandwich topping, taco filling, salsa base, pizza sauce, pasta sauce, soup garnish, and even dessert topping.
You can make guacamole out of just about anything you want. For example, you could add some diced cucumbers, jalapeños, black beans, corn kernels, olives, red peppers, bell peppers, carrots, celery, green onion, scallions, radishes, cilantro, parsley, basil, chile powder, hot sauce, lemon juice, vinegar, olive oil, nutritional yeast, salt, pepper, chipotle chili powder, and/or smoked paprika.
You can also add different kinds of cheese such as feta, blue cheese, goat cheese, mozzarella, Parmesan, Monterey Jack, Swiss, Havarti, provolone, Gouda, Edam, Brie, Camembert, cottage cheese, cream cheese, ricotta, sour cream, yogurt, crème Fraiche, and/or crema Fresca.
If you are making guacamole for a party, you might want to double the recipe because people tend to eat a lot of it. If you don’t like spicy food, you can always omit the jalapeño peppers.
